Sunny, warm stretch expected this week across NW Florida

Expect pleasant weather over the next several days across the Pensacola area and North Escambia County. Monday through Wednesday will feature consistent sunshine with highs hovering near 87 degrees and calm winds, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Overnight lows will dip to around 61–62 degrees under clear skies. No rain is expected through at least midweek, making it an ideal stretch for outdoor activities.

EREC Outages Drop Below 700 in Escambia as Restoration Efforts Continue

Escambia River Electric Cooperative is making progress in restoring power across the region following widespread outages, with crews working around the clock to get customers back online.

As of late Sunday night, EREC reported 678 outages remaining in Escambia County, down from higher numbers earlier in the restoration effort. However, Santa Rosa County residents are facing a longer wait, with 9,444 outages still affecting customers there.

The cooperative said hundreds of lineworkers are continuing restoration efforts throughout the night. EREC also announced that its online outage map is back in service, allowing customers to track restoration progress in their areas. The map provides real-time updates on outage locations and estimated restoration times.

House Fire in Beulah Kills Pet, Caused by Overloaded Outlet

A house fire in the Beulah area over the weekend destroyed a home after an electrical outlet became overloaded, according to North Escambia. Escambia County Fire Rescue responded Saturday to a residence on Sonoma Lane near Beulah Road after neighbors reported smoke coming from the house. Firefighters found the home heavily damaged by the blaze. A family pet died in the fire. The cause has been attributed to an overloaded electrical outlet, which ignited shortly after power was restored to the home. No injuries to residents were reported.
