STARKE, Fla. (AP) — A Milton man convicted of the rape and killing of his neighbor back in 1998 was executed last night. 65-year-old Norman Grim Jr. was killed by lethal injection on Tuesday evening. He declined to make a final statement before the execution. Grim was convicted of sexual battery and first-degree murder. Grim was linked to the murder of Cynthia Campbell by evidence, including DNA. Her body was found by a fisherman in Escambia Bay, she had been beaten with a hammer and stabbed several times. Grim waived his right to appeal before his execution. Florida has executed more inmates than any other state this year, with more executions scheduled in the coming months.

(Washington, DC) -- Florida's senators want President Trump to push China to release a political prisoner. Senator Ashley Moody announced yesterday she, Senator Rick Scott and others wrote a letter to Trump ahead of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the letter, the senators ask Trump to secure the release of Hong Kong pro-democracy leader Jimmy Lai [[Lie]]. Moody says the 78-year-old has been unjustly imprisoned in China for five years, and he faces deteriorating health conditions.

(Washington, DC) -- Rick Scott is once again calling on lawmakers to 'lock the clock.' He took to the senate floor yesterday to discuss his bill that makes Daylight Saving Time permanent. It would end the practice of changing the clocks twice a year. Scott has been pushing this issue since he was governor. He calls it a common-sense change that would simplify and better our lives.
