As Baptist Hospital gets set to open its new campus on Brent Lane this weekend, conversations are still being had regarding the future of the soon-to-be vacant E Street campus. Mayor D.C. Reeves says there have been meetings with Senator Doug Broxson and Representatives Alex Andrade and Michelle Salzman over whether state funds could be awarded for the costs of the demolition. In order for that to happen, the old Baptist property would need to be city-owned. Reeves says city leaders are continuing to work with Baptist officials over a property donation agreement, with an ultimate goal of seeing the property transformed into affordable housing developments.
