Pensacola Woman Charged with Murder in Stabbing Initially Called Self-Inflicted

A Pensacola woman was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge following a stabbing that authorities initially believed was self-inflicted, according to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested 29-year-old Kordaja Lakita Smith on November 4th and charged her with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing. The case represents a significant shift in the investigation after the incident was originally classified as self-inflicted.

The ECSO has not yet released additional details about the circumstances of the stabbing, the victim's identity, or what prompted investigators to reconsider their initial assessment. The arrest comes as detectives continue their investigation into the deadly incident.
