Augusta Avenue Bridge Closes Nov. 10 for Rehabilitation Work

Escambia County's Construction Management Division will shut down the Augusta Avenue Bridge to through traffic starting Tuesday, Nov. 10, for a comprehensive rehabilitation project on the bridge's existing structure. The closure is expected to last through December 2026, barring weather delays or other construction complications.
Drivers will be detoured to Atlanta Avenue and Selma Avenue during the work. The county urges motorists to exercise caution in the work zone and follow posted signs and road crew instructions. While the bridge itself will be closed to traffic, residents, pedestrians, local traffic, and emergency vehicles will retain access to properties within the work area, though some driveways and entrances may be temporarily blocked as crews move equipment and materials.
Construction schedules can shift due to weather or logistics, so the county advises drivers to check for updates before the closure takes effect.
