Pensacola to Name Historic Street after Rev. John Powell

(Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Beloved Pensacola activist Rev. John Powell will be honored with a street designation in the historic Belmont-Devilliers area. He passed away in July. Mayor D.C. Reeves announced that a portion of Belmont Street, between Devilliers and Rouse, will be named in his honor pending council approval in October. Friends praised Powell’s dedication to helping others, particularly children, describing him as a "go-to person" in the community. An event to commemorate the street naming is scheduled for November 1 at 12 p.m.
