Milton, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Santa Rosa County deputies responded to a fatal shooting on Friday night. It happened on Pinto Avenue in Milton. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Curtis Marvin Johnson -- a correctional officer in Okaloosa County.
"He was as sergeant for the corrections division over in Okaloosa County...The sheriff does not run the jail there, that's run by the board of county commissioners," says Sheriff Bob Johnson. "He's not what you'd call a sworn officer...he works for the commission."
Curtis Johnson is being held without bond at the Santa Rosa County jail on a 2nd-degree homicide charge, Sheriff Johnson says that charge could be upgraded by the state attorney's office after the investigation is complete.
