MAN ARRESTED FOR ARSON AFTER KNIFE AND SHOVEL FIGHT

Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) A 55-year-old man Pensacola man was arrested on charges of arson, aggravated assault, and drug possession last Tuesday in Escambia County. Deputies responded to an armed disturbance call where two men were fighting on Moreno Street. One man had a knife and the other had a shovel. According to the arrest report, James Mckinney was seen arguing with himself, walked into a house, put clothes on the stove, and turned it on, causing a fire to start. The other man involved in the altercation was able to drag the clothes outside, and in doing so, McKinney began chasing him with a knife. The other man used a shovel to defend himself. EMS arrived and transported McKinney to the hospital for his facial injuries from the shovel as fire crews put out the fire in the front yard from his clothes. The report states a search was done and a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine was found in McKinney's wallet. McKinney is currently being held in Escambia County Jail on a $205,000 bond.
