Gulf Shores Immigration Operation Spurred by Local Tips

Gulf Shores, AL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Yesterday, we learned about an immigration operation that resulted in several arrests in Gulf Shores -- the FBI says that operation was set into motion by community tips. Federal agents and local police officers arrested 37 illegal immigrants at the construction site where the new Gulf Shores High School is being built. Seven of those immigrants reportedly had criminal histories ranging from domestic violence to property damage, and other outstanding warrants. Federal officials say an agent was assaulted during the operation as well -- one worker will face charges for that. The FBI says the operation sends a message to companies who exploit illegal labor for profit and displace American workers.
