Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- An Escambia County man wanted on a homicide charge has turned himself in to authorities. The PNJ reports that 35-year-old Arrington Moultrie surrendered himself at the Escambia Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. Moultrie was wanted on charges related to a homicide at a home on Hampton Road earlier this month.
Investigators say the victim had taken a backpack from the home, and they believe Moultrie shot the man as he was getting in a car to leave. The victim was found at a nearby convenience store. He died after being taken to a hospital.
Moultrie reportedly told investigators the victim had shot at him first -- but investigators say they did not find any evidence that the shooting was in self-defense.
Officials say there have been allegations of drug sales at the house.
Moultrie is currently being held without bond on charges of homicide, possession of a weapon by a felon, and obstruction of justice.
