There are new details following the death of an Escambia County employee during a work-related mishap yesterday morning. In a news release, the Escambia Sheriff's Office says that workers were cutting a tree on Detroit Blvd near Cove Avenue when the tree swung and struck the boom arm. A 59-year-old male employee was knocked from his bucket to the ground. Investigators say that the employee was not wearing a helmet or harness at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Escambia County EMS. In a statement, county administrator Wes Moreno extended condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of the employee, saying "This is a difficult time that we will all navigate together"
