There's some reaction today to the removal of ECAT bus stop benches, which are reportedly due to "numerous issues with homeless individuals." Michael Kimbrel is an advocate for the homeless in our area. He said he thinks the removal of the benches is cruel. Escambia County Commissioner Mike Kohler told Channel 3 that he talked with ECAT's Director who said the benches were removed because of vandalism, and would be replaced eventually -- but it would cost the county $20-thousand dollars each to make repairs.
