DEPUTIES SHOOT SUSPECT NEAR NAVARRE WHATABURGER

Navarre FL (NewsRadio 92-3) The suspect in this morning's officer-involved shooting in Navarre has been identified by Sheriff Bob Johnson as a known gang member and former Colorado inmate that's now living in Santa Rosa County. Johnson held a press conference this morning. He said 39-year-old Justin Dale Peacock was pulled over around 6:30 this morning and was acting aggressively. The deputy then shot him in the leg when he reached into his vehicle to get something against the deputy's orders. Johnson says after being shot Peacock still led the deputy on a foot chase and was tazed before being arrested. Johnson described Peacock as a "frequent flyer" and said he has spent 238 days in the Santa Rosa County jail and spent years in prison in his home state of Colorado. FDLE is investigating the shooting.
