Santa Rosa County Commissioners shared new details from a third-party toll rate study for the Navarre Beach Bridge. The idea of a toll on Navarre Bridge is not a new concept. According to the study, this bridge opened in 1960. The original toll was 25 cents. In 1995 the fee increased to 50 cents. Ultimately, the toll was removed in 2004 after unsuccessful attempts to increase the fee even more. There's also an option for a $60 annual pass. According to the study, the toll could generate up to $4.1 million each year. That money would be used to cover maintenance costs for the bridge. After yesterday's presentation, Santa Rosa County Commissioner Ray Eddington said he wants to table the idea of a toll. Commissioners are expected to discuss the issue again at a future meeting.
