I'm often a man of many words. Deep thoughts. Heartfelt. About Family. Enjoying life. Spending times with those you love. Never anything negative on social media or sad.
For once I'm at a loss for words. And sad. If I could find all the words to type, I don't think they would fit.
I always knew the day would come. I just didn't think it would be now.
It's hard to utter the words..."my dad has passed away".
But those words are now reality. There are absolutely not enough words to describe this man. The things he did for his family, his friends, his country, and his Santa Rosa County.
He always told me how proud he was of me. I was definitely proud of HIM most of all. I am who I am today because of a father like him.
To the strongest and hardest working man I ever knew. I'll always hold the Salter name high and stand strong beside it.
To many...he was Mr. Salter...or Don..or Commissioner Salter. For many years he was Big Donnie. I was little Donnie. He was sometimes called Duck. To us, he was still Daddy. He wanted to be called Granddaddy when Ethan was born but it came out as GG. So that's who he was more than anything for the last 11 years. He was GG. And he was a great one. He was a great everything.
A life definitely worth celebrating
