Lowe's to distribute free cleaning supplies to Hurricane Isaias survivors in NW Florida

Lowe's is stepping in to help Northwest Florida residents still recovering from Hurricane Isaias by offering free cleaning supplies to those affected by the storm, according to WKRG News 5.

The program aims to assist families dealing with cleanup and recovery efforts in the weeks following the hurricane. Specific details about distribution locations, times, and eligibility requirements were not immediately available.

Hurricane Isaias impacted the Pensacola area and surrounding counties, leaving many residents facing significant cleanup and rebuilding work. The free supplies from Lowe's represent part of the broader recovery assistance being made available to affected communities across the region.

Taddeo Campaign Launches Ad Attacking Ingoglia's CFO Record

Democrat Annette Taddeo's campaign for Florida Chief Financial Officer rolled out a new digital ad Monday attacking Republican Blaise Ingoglia's tenure in the office, according to a press release from CVS Communications. The 30-second spot highlights recent scrutiny of the Department of Financial Services under Ingoglia's watch, including missing documentation for more than $342 million in contracts and a grand jury's findings on a $10 million Hope Florida Medicaid settlement.

The ad accuses Ingoglia of giving insurance companies a $3 billion bailout and diverting $10 million meant for sick children toward political activity. "Ingoglia's corruption has gone wild, and it's costing you more," the narrator states, before Taddeo pledges to lower insurance rates and ensure accountability.

Taddeo, a South Florida business owner who founded LanguageSpeak three decades ago, flipped a Republican state Senate seat in 2017 to become the first Latina Democrat elected to the Florida Senate. She served five years on the Banking and Insurance Committee before launching her bid for the statewide financial oversight position, focusing on insurance costs, accountability, and protecting taxpayer dollars.

Pensacola State College extends closure through Tuesday due to weather

Pensacola State College announced Monday that all its locations will remain closed Tuesday, October 13, as the college continues to assess conditions before resuming operations.

The closure affects all classes, campus activities, special events, and online instruction. The college is still evaluating when it will be safe to reopen and has not yet announced a firm date for resuming normal operations.

Fall B session final exams and the start of the D session will be rescheduled once PSC determines when classes can resume. Students and staff are urged to monitor PSC's social media accounts, the college website at PensacolaState.edu, and PSC Alert for updates as the situation develops.
