Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A trial is underway for one of three men accused in a fatal drive-by shooting. Twenty-one-year-old Terrance Gross Jr. is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2024 death of 70-year-old Myra Hayes. She was sitting on her porch in Montclair when a bullet struck her neck. Prosecutors say Gross and another suspect fired at a man standing in front of the house, but the shots struck Hayes instead. The state presented video evidence showing the vehicle made a second pass down the street before firing. A chase followed, with suspects jumping from the Highway 90 bridge. Gross's defense argues there's reasonable doubt he was even involved since he wasn't found at the scene that night. The trial continues Wednesday.

Penscaola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A new study shows Florida isn't the top destination for tech careers -- but it's still a pretty solid choice here. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Florida ranks 40th out of 50 states for pursuing a tech career. Here's what that means for you—tech graduates in Florida earn about 65 percent more than the average graduate. The state has 397 schools offering tech courses, with average tuition around 18 and a half thousand dollars per year. Tech grads in Florida earn a median of about 50 thousand dollars after four years. Alaska tops the list as the best state for tech careers, with Wyoming and Utah rounding out the top three. Both UWF and PSC offer an array of tech options for students.
