Man Dies In Jay Hunting Accident

Jay, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A 33-year-old man has died after falling from a tree stand while hunting in Jay. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says Gerald Kilpatrick fell Tuesday afternoon on private property. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The F-W-C is investigating the incident and extends its sympathies to the victim's family.

McGuire's St. Patrick's Day 5K Registration Now Open

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Registration is now open for the 49th annual McGuire's St. Patrick's Day 5K in downtown Pensacola. The race is set for March 7th at 9 a-m and is billed as the largest prediction run in America. Online registration costs 45 dollars and gets you a race shirt and access to the post-race party. Proceeds benefit local charities including Semper Fi and America's Fund and the Pensacola Police Department.

Santa Rosa Moves Forward With Navy Land Swap Plan

Santa Rosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Santa Rosa County is moving ahead with plans to acquire a 700-acre Navy training field in East Milton and turn it into an industrial park. County commissioners approved spending 162-thousand dollars to study the development potential of Navy Outlying Field Santa Rosa. But the deal has evolved beyond a simple land swap. Economic Development Director Shannon Ogletree says the county is now looking at helping upgrade existing Navy facilities like runways and taxiways instead of finding land to build a new training field. He says the project could eventually create up to two-thousand jobs.
