(Washington, DC) -- Rick Scott is backing an effort to balance the federal budget. Senator Scott introduced the Balanced Budget Responsibility Act yesterday. He says it'll provide the president with the authority and discretion to curb wasteful government spending and balance the federal budget. The bill gives the president the discretion to not spend money if the federal government is operating under a deficit. Scott adds, though, the bill does protect essential programs like Medicare and Social Security. He says we all owe it to the American people to give a damn about how we're spending their dollars so we can drive down costs and bring fiscal sanity to the nation.
