UWF Named Center Of Excellence For Maritime Workforce Training

Penascola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- The University of West Florida has been named one of sixteen new national Centers of Excellence for Maritime Workforce Training, a designation from the U-S Maritime Administration. UWF supports more than a thousand active students working with local shipbuilders and manufacturers, including American Magic and Jupiter Bach. Dean Mohamed Khabou says UWF is expanding its engineering programs to meet growing demand from Gulf Coast maritime employers. The recognition comes as Northwest Florida sees rapid growth in shipbuilding, including projects like Birdon's new facility at the Port of Pensacola.
