Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) Crews have been working to clear snow on essential roads leading to hospitals all night. City and County crews have worked overnight and cleared SNOW from many major roads -- but they are still covered in ice. Crews are now working to create one ice-free lane on those roadways. Even as they clear those lanes, they want people to stay home. Some of the area roads that are still closed as of noon include the Bayou Chico Bridge to Weis Lane, I-10, I-110, but it looks like the Garcon Bridge is open, and so is the Pensacola Bay Bridge. A crash on Scenic Highway just south of I-10 is blocking the road, as well as one on Mobile Highway at Erika Court. There are also accidents on Muscogee Road just west of 29 in Cantonment, and another one just north of that on 29. The roads are slick with ice so stay off the roads unless you really have to drive. There are power outages due to the snowstorm. At one point there were more than a thousand outages reported. As of noon, we're seeing 742 scattered outages around in Escambia County, and 671 in Santa Rosa County. FPL said yesterday they had extra crews and trucks on call to keep the power on as demand for heat soars with these low temperatures.
