SANTA ROSA SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES UPDATED POLICY TO HANDLE BOOK REVIEWS

The Santa Rosa School District is revising their media policy in order to better deal with book reviews and challenges. The revised policy calls for objections to be submitted to the district's library media staff using the standard Florida Department of Education objection form. School board attorney Terry Harmon says the policy also allows for a "streamlined" process in the event an individual makes multiple challenges. Harmon says rather than requiring multiple committee meetings and board hearings, those challenges could be consolidated into one meeting.
