Santa Rosa County food distribution event set for Sept. 30

A large-scale food distribution is coming to Santa Rosa County next week, with organizers expecting to hand out roughly 30,000 pounds of food to residents in need.

The event takes place Wednesday, September 30th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Welcome Assembly of God Church (8581 Welcome Church Rd, Milton). It's free and open to the public.

State Representative Michelle Salzman is partnering with several local organizations for the effort, including Be the Miracle, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson's office, Welcome Assembly of God Church, and Feeding the Gulf Coast. "Access to nutritious food is essential for strong and healthy communities," Salzman said in a statement, noting the collaborative approach ensures families throughout Northwest Florida have support during times of food insecurity.

Be the Miracle founder Tim Chandler emphasized the community-wide effort behind the initiative. "It's the generosity and collaboration of organizations and leaders across Santa Rosa County that allows us to reach even more families," he said. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to making sure no family in the county has to face food insecurity alone.
