Gusty Thunderstorm Winds Hit NAS Pensacola Tuesday Afternoon

A strong thunderstorm swept across NAS Pensacola on Tuesday afternoon, producing wind gusts up to 41 miles per hour, according to the automated weather station at the base.

The National Weather Service recorded the peak gust at 4:19 p.m. CDT at AWOS station KNPA on the naval air station. The marine thunderstorm wind advisory flagged winds equivalent to 36 knots as the system moved through Escambia County.

While the gust was notable, it fell short of warning thresholds that would trigger broader alerts across the region. No damage reports were immediately available from the base or surrounding areas.
