Report Details Failed Nine-Mile Bank Robbery

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- New details have emerged in the failed bank robbery at Nine Mile Road on the day before Thanksgiving. According to an arrest report, 63-year-old Gwendolyn Brown passed a note demanding 16,000 dollars and claiming unknown individuals were holding her son hostage. The teller handed over the cash, but Brown immediately broke down crying and told staff conflicting stories about where her son was being held. Deputies searched the area but found no hostages or suspicious vehicles. The bank employee recovered the 16,000 dollars while Brown was speaking with staff. Brown is charged with communications fraud and grand theft. She was released on a 5,000-dollar bond.
