Racist Graffiti Spray Painted at Milton High School

There's an investigation ongoing after someone spray-painted racist graffiti at Milton High School ...

"It's a shame they have to do stuff like this," Sheriff Bob Johnson told Channel 3. "It just ruins the holidays."

Johnson says the graffiti was left on school doors, outside the high school Intitute of Technology, on a window, and around an entryway. The messages were painted sometime Monday after a basketball game. Investigators have identified suspects -- and they are adults, not students at the school. The sheriff's office says multiple surveillance cameras provided evidence in the case. Deputies will be working to arrest the suspects soon.

The school released this statement:

The administration at Milton High School is aware of inappropriate statements written outside of the gym area of the school. The investigation findings show this does not involve any current Santa Rosa County District students. Due to this, the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead on this matter. We appreciate the assistance of SRSO in addressing this. Milton High School's priority remains ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all members of the school community. Principal Tim Short states, 'We are certainly disheartened that someone would vandalize a school and degrade others in such a manner. We will work to ensure our community understands this behavior will not be tolerated.'

Sheriff Johnson didn't mince his words about the suspects.

"They're idiots, unfortunately, every community has a certain percentage of people that are racist...and want to tell everybody about it." Johnson went on to say "You can't fix stupid...but you can give it a court date."
