Pensacola Man Charged with Murder in Whataburger Parking Lot Robbery

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A 23-year-old Pensacola man has been arrested for a murder that occurred during a drug robbery outside a Pensacola Boulevard Whataburger last fall. Deputies arrested Ja'Kobe Edward Tuesday and charged him with murder while engaged in robbery. According to the arrest report, Edward and others arranged to meet victim Serchui Hicks in November twenty-twenty-five to purchase marijuana — but investigators say the group intended to rob Hicks instead. Hicks was shot during a struggle and died at Baptist Hospital four days later. Edward is being held without bond. No other arrests have been made.
