Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Recent job growth numbers released by the state reveal that Pensacola has gained 2,500 jobs from December 2023 to December 2024. According to FloridaCommerce, the leading sector driving this growth is professional and business services, which added 1,100 jobs during this period.
In our area, the unemployment rate stood at 3.2% in December 2024, reflecting a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the previous year. Statewide, Florida's labor force exceeded 11.1 million in January 2025, showcasing job growth across major industries, particularly in education and health services.
Governor Ron DeSantis emphasized that Florida's economic strength continues to flourish, with the state maintaining a lower unemployment rate than the national average for over 51 months.
