NO DISASTER PREPAREDNESS HOLIDAY THIS YEAR

Florida’s 2026 budget has delivered a double-edged sword to consumers. The state has terminated the annual disaster preparedness sales tax holiday, which typically ran from June 1-14. The good news is that Florida will permanently waive sales tax on select hurricane supplies, such as batteries, portable generators, and tarps. The bad news is that sales tax will remain for other items like flashlights, lanterns, and pet supplies.
