Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Reports that all local fire company patches had been ordered to be removed from Escambia County fire trucks appear to be some type of miscommunication. County administrator Wes Moreno addressed the issue this morning on Pensacola's Morning News, where he said his guidance had been that all patches need to be reviewed for content...but not necessarily removed...
"We are reviewing all of our logos and branch standards...we just want to be consistent throughout the county," Moreno told Pensacola's Morning News. "What goes on a fire vehicle, public works vehicle, EMS, or anything else.... we want to make sure it's in good taste and reflects the image we want to portray."
Moreno said the county is reviewing all imaging county-wide. Newsradio was sent a screenshot of an email from the fire chief saying firefighters were to remove fire patches from all ECFR apparatus as soon as possible yesterday. Moreno says he plans to address the miscommunication this morning with public safety staff.
