Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) Rep. Michelle Salzman announced this morning that she is running for Congress following Matt Gaetz's resignation last week. Salzman, a Republican, announced on X around 10:45 am. Last Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Northwest Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz to serve as U.S. Attorney General. Gaetz -- who had held the Florida District 1 Congressional seat since 2016 -- resigned from Congress the same day. Florida now has to hold a special election to fill the vacancy. The House speaker hopes to fill Gaetz's seat before Jan. 3, 2025.
