LEADERS PONDER WHAT TO DO WITH OLD BAPTIST HOSPITAL SITE

Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves said it's time to re-think the potential redevelopment of the old Baptist Hospital, because of the potential that some of the buildings on the old Baptist Hospital campus could be reused. Reeves made the comments during an invitation-only meeting at the Bayview Community Center where more than 50 local business and community leaders discussed the future of the old Baptist Hospital property on West Moreno Street. Pensacola and Baptist Hospital are engaged in active negotiations on an agreement for Baptist Hospital to donate the old campus to the city if it secures funding from the state to demolish the hospital. The estimate to demolish the property is $18 million and the city is seeking funding from the Legislature.
