JAY HIGH SCHOOL GROUNDSKEEPER CHARGED WITH INAPPROPRIATE MESSAGES TO STUDENT

A 52-year-old groundskeeper at Jay High School, has been charged with sending inappropriate messages to a student. Kevin Ross Dunning was arrested on Monday for a sex offense involving an authority figure engaging in a romantic relationship with a minor. He is currently held in Santa Rosa County Jail on a $25,000 bond. The Santa Rosa County School District terminated Dunning, a contracted employee with ABM, on September 9 after receiving a report about his communications with a 15-year-old female student. After sending her a Facebook friend request, Dunning began messaging the student, initially friendly but quickly becoming personal and inappropriate. The student expressed discomfort with the messages. Despite his claims that the communication was not sexual in nature, deputies decided to charge him based on the content of the messages. The investigation continues.
