INTERNATIONAL PAPER TO SHUT DOWN PULP MACHINE AT PENSACOLA

International Paper has announced that they will stop production on pulp machines at two of their facilities, including in Cantonment. The company announced that the pulp machines in Riegelwood, North Carolina, and Pensacola would be stopped, along with permanently closing its containerboard mill in Orange, Texas. The decision will affect about 100 jobs in Pensacola. The machine at the Cantonment plant is currently idled and will not resume production. The company says where possible, the goal is to minimize the impact by using current vacancies, retirements, attrition, and other roles.
