It looks like the controversial impact fees in Santa Rosa County are a go -- but only if voters decide to approve a 1/2 cent increase to the local option sales tax in November. At this morning's public hearing on the issue, Commissioner Kerry Smith moved to approve the impact fees. The item ended up being approved on a 3-2 vote. If the 1/2 cent increase were to be approved it would automatically trigger the impact fees in January, when the sales tax increase goes into effect. The commission will be holding a second public hearing at 1 o'clock this afternoon to discuss the Local Option Sales Tax increase.
