GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE ATTRACTS 7.8 MILLION VISITORS IN 2024
The Gulf Islands National Seashore says they attracted nearly 8-million visitors last year -- which resulted in $411 million dollars spent in nearby communities. The data comes from a recent National Park Service Report, which revealed that 7.8 million people visited the Gulf Islands National Seashore in 2024. Officials say 88-percent of the visitors were nonlocals. The number contributed to the park's status as a top RV campground in the National Park system. Nationally, visitors to national parks spent $29 billion, generating significant economic benefits, particularly in the lodging and restaurant sectors.
