Gulf Coast Jazz Fest Asking Supporters to Lobby Escambia Commissioners for Funding

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The Gulf Coast Jazz Festival in Pensacola may face its final curtain call as it wrapped up its ninth annual event on Sunday. Organizers are concerned after the Escambia Tourist Development Council rejected a $250,000 funding request, potentially jeopardizing the festival's future.

Organizer William "Cadillac" Banks urged attendees to support efforts to secure funding from county commissioners. Hundreds of jazz fans attended the festival over the weekend -- the TDC said they denied the funding request because it's too much money for the number of people who attend the festival. Williams says it draws people in from across the world .
