Fort Pickens to Close This Afternoon

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) --The Gulf Islands National Seashore is closing the Fort Pickens area this afternoon to prepare for possible severe weather tomorrow. The campground will close at 5 PM and campers are expected to be out by 2 o'clock this afternoon. All Fort Pickens camping reservations will be canceled until further notice. Storms are expected to bring strong winds and up to 10-foot surf to the area tomorrow afternoon. Park staff will be checking the park's condition on Thursday morning.
