Florida Lottery Urges Adults to Keep Lottery Tickets Away From Children This Holiday Season

As the holiday shopping season kicks off, the Florida Lottery is reminding gift-givers that lottery tickets are entertainment products for adults only, not children.
The Florida Lottery has joined the National Council on Problem Gambling's annual "Gift Responsibly" campaign, which runs through the end of the year. The effort aims to educate Floridians about the risks of youth gambling and encourage responsible gift-giving practices during November and December. Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon said in a statement that lottery games "are designed to be entertainment for adults, and it's important that we keep them that way."
Florida law prohibits lottery ticket sales to anyone under 18. The Gaming Control Commission and the Lottery plan to share educational messages across social media throughout the holiday season, emphasizing that lottery products belong in adults' hands only. The campaign is part of a broader, multi-state effort organized by the National Council on Problem Gambling and supported by the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries.
