Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Escambia County has removed over 31,000 names from its voter rolls since 2024 due to a new law targeting inactive voters. While some worried this would hurt Democrats more, the data shows removals have been fairly even across parties: According to the PNJ, 12,799 Republicans, 9,506 Democrats, and 8,388 non-party affiliated voters were affected. Supervisor of Elections Robert Bender says all voters were sent multiple notices before their names were removed. Interestingly, for the first time since 2020, the number of registered Democrats in Escambia County is slowly increasing, up by 0.84% in 2025. Plus, nearly 5,000 inactive voters have returned to the polls in 2024.
