DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUSPECT HIT BY CAR WHILE FLEEING

The Escambia Sheriff's Office says they apprehended a domestic violence suspect wanted for false imprisonment and felony battery after a pursuit yesterday. Officials say Cody Gaines jumped out of the backseat of the vehicle and attempted to run on foot on Davis Highway around I-10 -- but was hit by a civilian vehicle. Deputies qucikly apprehended him following that incident. Gaines was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was then booked into the Escambia County jail on multiple charges, including felony false imprisonment and battery. He also faces several misdemeanor charges. Gaines is held without bond at the Escambia County jail.
