Details on Crash that Stalled Traffic Into Pensacola Wednesday Morning

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3F) -- We're learning more about the incident that backed up traffic into Pensacola from Santa Rosa County for a good portion of the morning....

The Florida Highway Patrol says it all happened just before 3 am when a pickup truck made a U-turn and pulled out in front of another truck on Highway 90 right before the 90 Bridge to Pace. That truck swerved to avoid a crash, but then hit the utility pole and crashed into an embankment. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The crash knocked the utility pole and power lines down across the road.

The truck that initially made the u-turn fled the scene south on Highway 90.

The accident backed up traffic for most of the morning as both lanes of 90 were closed while utility crews worked to repair the pole and power lines. In a chain reaction, many alternate routes into Pensacola also saw heavy traffic and accidents that further backed up traffic.
