State lawmakers are no longer trying to consolidate north Santa Rosa County utilities. Last month, State Senator Doug Broxson pushed to create the North Santa Rosa County Regional Utility Authority. It would have required the nine water utilities to be under one authority. Those utilities said it would have a negative impact on customers. Sen. Broxson and State Representatives Alex Andrade and Joel Rudman pulled the bill. But they say the county should create its own commission, so it can better meet the needs of a growing community.
