Carver Community Center in Century Too Far Gone for Renovations

HISTORIC CARVER COMMUNITY CENTER IN CENTURY IS TOO FAR GONE TO RENOVATE

Century, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A historic community center in Century will likely have to be torn down and rebuilt -- The Carver Community Center has reportedly suffered too much damage caused by termites and wood rot. It was one of two community centers the town was awarded money from the state to renovate last April.

Now it appears that the full $3.2 million dollar grant will go toward demolishing and rebuilding the Carver Center building -- during a community meeting this week the Century town council conducted an informal poll and there was nearly unanimous support for building a replacement for the Carver Center.

The council will look into options and take a vote on the future of the building at a later meeting.
