ARRESTS MADE DURING 'OPERATION SAFE' IN FORT WALTON

Law enforcement agents continue targeting fentanyl in our area -- Operation SAFE has been ongoing in Fort Walton Beach. During a recent news conference the organization said nineteen arrests had been made so far on charges ranging from drug trafficking and racketeering to homicide. Officials say the operation is ongoing and they anticipate making more arrests. Health officials say the rate of overdose deaths in Northwest Florida is double that of the rest of the state, largely due to the amount of drugs entering the state on I-10.
