Arrest Made After Dirtbike Chase in Escambia County

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A 25-year-old man has been arrested after attempting to flee from law enforcement officers on a dirt bike on Pensacola's west side Sunday night. The Florida Highway Patrol says a trooper attempted to stop Marico Hayes for a license plate violation near 57th and Jackson last night. Troopers say Hayes rode at high speed, ran stop signs and red lights, split traffic, and drove on the wrong side of the road during the chase. Eventually Hayes crashed and was arrested near Brandywine and Fleet roads. Hayes is now charged fleeing and eluding, multiple traffic violations, and drug possession charges. He remains in jail on 9-thousand dollars bond.
