Water levels running abnormally high across Gulf Coast

Water levels are currently elevated across the Gulf Coast, with Pensacola Bay running about a foot above expected levels and the mouth of the Mississippi River near Southwest Pass, Louisiana seeing rises of about 2 feet above normal, according to meteorologist Dr. Jeff Masters citing NOAA tide and current data.
The elevated water levels could indicate ongoing storm surge effects or unusual oceanographic conditions affecting the region. Such above-normal water levels can complicate flooding risks and affect navigation and coastal operations.
NOAA's Tides & Currents database tracks real-time water level measurements across the Gulf and Atlantic coasts.
