Escambia County says wait times are still a big issue for our EMS system Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore tells Newsradio one big problem is people calling for an ambulance when they should just be going to their primary care doctor or an urgent care facility. Gilmore says many people call for an ambulance for non-emergency situations believing that they will go to the front of the line at the emergency room, which he says is not the case. Gilmore says after arriving in the ambulance non-emergency cases usually still end up waiting in line at the ER.
