Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- University of West Florida students could soon be paying a higher athletic fee to help fund the school's move to Division I sports. The board of trustees is set to vote Thursday on raising the student athletic fee from 21 to 23 dollars per credit hour, adding about 30 dollars per semester for full-time students. The increase was developed with input from a committee with at least half its members appointed by the Student Government Association. UWF President Manny Diaz says the DI transition is being approached with fiscal responsibility and will not impact academic programs. If approved the new fee takes effect this fall.
