Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The University of West Florida's Dr. Hossain Shahriar and several of his students have created a new platform that checks how secure mobile apps are, especially when it comes to protecting personal health info. Funded by a $545,000 NIH grant, this tool rates apps on a scale from low to critical risk, helping both companies and users spot potential vulnerabilities. So far, even a Fortune 500 company has used it and found security issues. You can check it out at hipaachecker.health. It currently works for Android, iOS, and web apps, and there are plans to add features for fixing insecure code.
