UWF Enrolls Two National Merit Finalists, Including Tate High Graduate

The University of West Florida is welcoming two National Merit Finalists to campus this fall, continuing a steady pipeline of top-tier scholars to Northwest Florida's largest university. One of the new honorees is a graduate of Tate High School in Santa Rosa County.

The addition brings UWF's total count of National Merit Finalists to 20 students since 2017, according to the university. The competitive designation recognizes exceptional academic achievement and puts these scholars among the nation's top high school performers.

National Merit recognition is considered one of the most prestigious academic honors available to high school seniors. The program identifies students based on PSAT performance and additional academic criteria, making selection to finalist status highly competitive.

UWF has increasingly attracted academically gifted students in recent years, with the National Merit Finalist enrollment representing part of the university's broader efforts to strengthen its academic profile and draw top talent from the region.
